Sounds Promising

GoodCleanTech: This new generation of GaN LED lighting promises to be three times more efficient than commercially-available fluorescent lighting. They can also last 100,000 hours, which is around 10 times as long as fluorescent lamps, and would cost $3 a pop. The bulbs do not contain mercury like CFL bulbs do, do not flicker (a problem with CFLs many associate with migraines and epileptic fits) and reaches maximum brightness as soon as they're switched on.
